![]() ![]() Having everything in one place is certainly a far better solution than needing to install numerous RGB lighting software suites, which often conflict with one another. Our Asus motherboard also showed up, although it was only the lighting that could be changed. From here, we were able to control the two lighting zones, check the temperature, and set up temperature alerts. We were pleasantly surprised when we opened iCUE on one of our test systems and our Nvidia RTX 3080 FE popped up on the home page. We’re not talking about just Corsair products either. This enables you to get statistics for temperatures, CPU load, RAM monitoring, and other metrics. ![]() The software can also perform realtime monitoring of hardware. Corsair manufactures power supplies, RAM, coolers, cases, custom loop products, and more, and the majority of it has some type of control via iCUE, even if sometimes it is just lighting. With Corsair having far more hardware than SteelSeries, there is a lot more to control. If you want to control your Philips Hue products with iCUE alongside this, no problem. Corsair has all the usual macro controls for keyboards, mice, and headsets, and with the acquisition of Elgato, you can actually integrate the Stream Deck with it, too, so you can create some crazy lighting scenes at the touch of a button. This isn’t to say that software from other brands is not up to scratch (Razer’s Synapse is another standout), but these two are our current favorites.Ĭorsair iCUE comes in at a hefty 741 MB for its latest version. ![]() In this head-to-head, we’re going to look at the two software suites we seem to get on with the best: Corsair iCUE and SteelSeries Engine 3. Sure, most peripherals have good functionality without having to install anything, but if you want to unlock their full potential, installing the software suite is advised. Yes! Our Engine software supports binding all keyboard keys, as well as mouse buttons, media buttons, and macros.A battle of the peripheral software is one really better than the other? When we review a product, we look at the software as well as the hardware. In our walk/run example above, fully pressing and releasing the key will send “wWw” as an output, as the key enters main actuation, dual actuation, then main actuation again as it is released.Ĭan I set other inputs through the Dual Actuation key binding? When a Dual Actuation key is raised above the dual actuation trigger point, it will output the main keybind. How does Dual Actuation work when I partially release a key? ![]() As Omnipoint switches are limited to the Standard Key Zone on the Apex Pro keyboards, Dual Actuation is not available on the function keys, arrow keys, or numpad keys. If you need a more complex macro, please check out the Macro Editor in Engine.Ĭan I use Dual Actuation on other keys, such as the Arrow keys?ĭual Actuation is limited to Omnipoint switches only. We’ll just use the Quick Record feature for this, which is found directly under the key dropdown. Next, we’ll select the W key, and create a binding for Shift + W. Now that we have our actuation levels set, let’s go and create our run key! To do this, we’ll go to the “Dual Bindings” menu in the configuration window. If you’d like to set only a single key, you can do so simply by clicking on the key, or by finding the key in the list on the left-hand side of the window. By default, all keys are selected, so you’ll be changing the dual actuation for all Omnipoint keys. We’ll use the slider to set it nice and deep to 3.4mm. To do this, we’ll go to the “Dual Actuation” tab in the configuration window. Next, let’s set the level that we want the Dual Actuation key bind to fire. By default, all keys are selected, so you’ll be changing the actuation for all Omnipoint keys. To do this, we’ll go to the “Actuation” tab in the device’s configuration window, and use the slider on the left to set it.We’ll set it to 1.0mm for this example. This is the level at which the first key bind will fire. Let’s get started on setting up your dual actuation! In this example, we’ll be setting up a walk/run key.įirst, let’s check that our Main Actuation levels are set where we’d like. You can bind the same key to walk and run, equip and use, or any other combination actions you can think of! Dual Actuation is a feature found on Apex Pro keyboards that allows you to bind two different functions to two different actuation levels on our Omnipoint key switches. ![]()
